As you can see from the list, this is an elaborate shell craft sculpture. It will take quite a bit of time to put together. Of course, you could cut some of the items out to make it faster.

First thing to do is go shopping for the items needed for this shell craft sculpture. The wood base can be found in craft stores. Seashells and sand you can get beachcombing at your local beach. A gel candle supply store may carry the fish and crabs.

Prepare the wood base by using the sandpaper to take any glaze off the surface. Also smooth out any rough spots. Wipe the wood clean and vacuum up the dust.

Apply the stain to the wood. Since it is a dark stain, you may want to keep off of the flat top. If you do stain the top, it's no big deal but it make the sculpture a bit darker.

Pick out a nice piece of coral for this seashell sculpture, some seashells, 3 or 4 glass fish, and a couple of crabs. If the sea fan is all one piece, cut one or two small sections off. Got some pearls? Set aside a couple for the sculpture. This shell craft project uses quite a few items.

Set the coral on the wood. Decide how you want it to sit, then glue it in place. If you want it stay in a particular place you may need to prop it up.

Set a crab down in the center of the space under/in front of the coral. Paint glue on the exposed wood and under the crab, then cover with the sand. Give it all a chance to set. Gently tilt the shell craft sculpture so that the loose sand is removed.

Add some seashells in a pattern that is pleasing to you. A clamshell under or near the crab's claws and a few other seashells nearby will look fine. See the photo above. Add the pearls to the seashell sculpture. Place the fish on top of the coral, and another crab to keep an eye on them. Add the sea fan.

Add a few more small seashells here and there. Add sand where you need it to hide bare spots or glue. Use the clear polyurethane (gloss is best) to cover everything except fish, crabs, and pearls. Set aside to dry.

Place the shell craft sculpture on a table or a shelf. Place a couple of shell craft mini tealight candle holders nearby.

Enjoy your sculpture. Come back, and try one of the other Shellcraft projects.
